Making a linksys wusb11 v2.6 work on Vista
You can use the v4.0 drivers to make the v2.6 work on Vista (source)...
Just to let anyone who may have this problem in the future know I have now solved it by downloading the v4 update software from Linksys for the v2.6 WUSB11 adapter. It allowed me to get Vista to see the adapter and install the XP driver which works Ok with Vista.
Since Vista had already failed at installing the device, I just unzipped the v4.0 software and went into the device manager and had it scan the unzipped directory and it loaded and installed properly so I finally could use the internet.
