This is one of the best entry css tutorials I have ever seen. Going through things like what fonts are the best and how to efficiently use icons, among other things.

Honestly, one of the most frustrating things about doing anything on the internet now-a-days is trying to be cool and not use tables for your layout, this usually leads to all sorts of headaches trying to get things to look right that would be easy if you could just use tables. This link does a great job of explaining basic CSS layout.
